TREATMENT
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that parents consider bringing their children to see a specialist orthodontist by age 7 in order to check that dental and jaw development are progressing normally and to identify potential problems as early as possible. At Kaizen, we treat children with a range of appliances including removable braces, expanders to make more space for the permanent teeth and fixed braces if needed.

The teen years are usually the best time to consider orthodontic treatment. This is when the teenage growth spurt has started and the teeth have changed to the adult (permanent) teeth. Options for braces would range from fixed metal or ceramic braces to clear aligners. For children and young teens, there may be a need to consider functional orthopaedic appliances to address upper/lower jaw imbalances while active growth is taking place.

More and more adults are having orthodontic treatment nowadays to address issues that were not corrected when they were younger or to correct problems that appear later in life. We realise that having an aesthetic brace is important for adults and offer ceramic (tooth-coloured) fixed braces and aligner treatment. Many adult patients need multi-disciplinary treatment with other specialists for gum treatment, implants, crown and bridge work or management of temporomandibular disorder (TMD or jaw joint pain) and our practice is experienced in coordinating and managing this type of treatment.
